Be a safer driver

YOU CAN BE A BETTER DRIVER!

Take the AARP Smart Driver Course:
• Learn how to avoid driving hazards
• Minimal course fee, bring your AARP membership card for a discount
• No tests!
• Auto insurance discounts for 3 years – consult your insurance agent

Two 3-hour classroom sessions, or one 6-hour session, reinforce fundamental driving skills using DVD, education, and group discussions. Although this refresher course is geared for drivers 50 years of age or older, anyone can attend. Graduates under age 50 may also qualify for the discount, contact insurance agent to verify. Update your driving skills by taking one of the scheduled classes offered in Cortland County this fall. The schedule from August 2014 thru February 2015 follows:

Aug. 12 and 13, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Homer Elks Lodge No 2506, 82 Cortland St., Homer.
Aug. 19 and 20, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Cortland Senior Center, Cortland County Office Building Activity Room B-1, 60 Central Ave, Cortland.
Sept. 16 and 17, 1 to 4 p.m., McGraw Senior Center, Community Hall, Clinton St., McGraw. Noon lunch is available.
Sept. 22 and 23, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Cortland Regional Medical Center Auditorium, lower level, 134 Homer Ave., Cortland.
Oct. 15 and 16, 1 to 4 p.m., Walden Place, 839 Bennie Rd., Cortland.
Oct. 21 and 22, 1 to 4 p.m., Homer Senior Center, Homer Town Hall, 31 N. Main St., Homer. Noon lunch is available.
Nov. 5 and 6, 1 to 4 p.m., Homer Elks Lodge No 2506, 82 Cortland St., Homer.
Nov. 18 and 19, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Cortland Senior Center, Cortland County Office Building Activity Room B-1, 60 Central Ave, Cortland.
Jan. 14 and 15, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Cortland Regional Medical Center Auditorium, lower level, 134 Homer Ave., Cortland.
Feb. 10 and 11, from 1 to 4 p.m., Homer Senior Center, Homer Town Hall, 31 N. Main St., Homer. Noon lunch is available.

Advanced registration is required. All instructors for these classes are RSVP volunteers. The course enrollment fee covers instruction cost including workbooks and processing with the Department of Motor Vehicles and insurance companies. Interested individuals can register by calling the CC Health Ed Office at (607) 758- 5509.

These classes are offered in partnership with AARP, Cortland County Health Ed. Dept., the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and the Area Agency on Aging.
