Walking & Bicycling Commutes On the Rise

The American Community Survey recently released its 2012 commuting data and it shows that both walking and bicycling as a means to get to work are on the increase.

In a blog post on Advocacy Advance the author reports that walking has increased 16.2% since 2005 while bicycling has increased a whopping 68.4%. The data is from the largest 50 cities in the nation.

The good news for the walking advocates is that many people already walk to work in these big cities.

Not sure if I can find data for Cortland County on the ACS but anyway, that will have to wait until the government websites are back up.
