What happens when you go from a two car family to a one car family?
Well first of all you save a boatload of money – probably more than $500 a month. What would you do with that extra money and how might that benefit your community?
Take a look at this interesting blog post from Meika Weiss that I found on the Strong Towns blog.
She says that a high percentage of the money spent on gas, car purchases and insurance leaves the local economy. But if you don’t have that extra car to travel out to Walmart and other big box retailers, you might just shop at a local establishment that you can either walk or bike to. That keeps more money in the local economy and benefits your community.
What do you think?
