Women in transportation fields

On July 28 the Cleveland Indians honored all women in transportation fields and Ellen Voie, President/CEO of Women in Trucking got to throw out the first pitch.

You probably don’t think that there are too many women working in transportation but there are. Transit managers, mechanics, pilots, truckers, train engineers, and even mobility managers – you name it, women are doing it.

But not enough women are thinking of transportation as a career so that’s how Transportation You came about.

“Transportation YOU is a hands-on, interactive program that offers young girls ages 13-18 an introduction to a wide variety of transportation careers. Through the program, WTS chapters have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young girls by offering programs and activities that will spark their interest in all modes of transportation and encourage them to take courses in math, science, and technology, which are the stepping stones to exciting careers that can change the face of the transportation industry.”
