How does your car fit you?

Way2Go Cortland is pleased to offer a program new to our area called CarFit. CarFit is an “educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles ‘fit’ them.”

Many older adults were taught how to drive before the advent of airbags, telescoping steering wheels, and power everything. Some of what they were taught is now obsolete due to new technology. Some of the newer features in cars just has never been explained to them.

CarFit consists of 2 trained technicians conducting a 12 point safety checklist with an individual in their own vehicle and providing instruction and information to that individual. It takes about 20 minutes.

Our first CarFit event will take place during Safety Day on June 15 at the Cortlandville Fire Station. Appointments will be set up between 10 am and 2 pm. Individuals interested in attending need to pre-register by June 11. This is a free service and will be offered as well at senior centers throughout the summer and fall.

Call us at 756-4198 for more information and to pre-register.

“A proper fit in one’s car can greatly increase not only the driver’s safety but also the safety of others.”
