If you’ve been to a gas pump in the past week, then I’m sure you know what’s coming. Prices have risen more than 10 cents in one week and we need to be ready for the seasonal upswing.
According to this story on Marketplace.org refineries are switching to more expensive summer blend gas while also doing maintenance on their facilities. But I’m sure there are a few other factors in the mix.
Last night on NBC News Brian Williams reported that the average family pays more than $2900 a year just for gasoline.
That’s a huge chunk out of your budget and we are not even talking about the other costs of owning and maintaining a car.
Maybe it’s time to think of some alternatives – grab those walking shoes, tune up your bicycle, or check out the public transit schedule. Really, there are other ways to get around.
