Nissan getting into the act

As I’ve blogged before, there are companies working on driverless cars and crash avoidance systems. It’s not new technology.

But it’s encouraging that more and more automobile companies are exploring these technologies.

I just read in the Wall Street Journal that Nissan is working on several new technologies for their cars including:

1. a steering wheel that doesn’t vibrate even when driving over a bumpy road

2. a collision avoidance system that would sense an imminent collision and automatically steer the vehicle to a safe spot.

And the best part is that these technologies might be available on cars within 5 years. The challenge is to keep the cost low enough.
