Car seat safety

Did you know that this week is Child Passenger Safety Week?

Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Ray LaHood,  has written about this issue in his blog.

Did you know that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has “estimated that close to three out of four parents do not use child restraints properly?”

Obviously, we all need to do better.

There’s a Safe Kids checklist that you can do at home or you can go to the Cortland Youth Center, 35 Port Watson Street in downtown Cortland this Saturday (September 22) for a free car seat check. There are other activities happening as well as part of their “Back to School Safely, & In Style.”

Hours for the event on Saturday are 10 am – 3 pm.

“There’s always time for your child’s safety.”
