Shoulder tinting?

Ithaca is going more green, in a research project to see if applying green paint to the shoulders of a widened road will slow motorists down.

It’s called shoulder tinting and Tompkins County has painted the shoulders of a  1 1/2 mile stretch of Ellis Hollow Road bright green. It separates the bicyclists and pedestrians from the rest of the road and authorities hope that will make the road safer.

As for slowing people down, not everyone is convinced. One of the residents along that road thinks it makes their road look like a circus and she doesn’t see evidence that people are slowing down.
