High speed rail for CNY?

There’s a story in this morning’s Post-Standard that talks about the issue of bringing high speed rail to Central New York. There are several other projects happening in this country including ones in California and the Northeast Corridor, connecting Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and Boston.  Billions of dollars of federal money are being spent and the issue here is whether or not it makes sense economically to invest in high speed rail in the Niagara Falls to New York City corridor.

Some think it’s an investment in the future and will create thousands of jobs and provide a much needed economic boost to the area.

Others, including Representatives Richard Hanna and Anne Marie Buerkle don’t think that train traffic would necessarily increase with high speed rail.

There’s a lot of money at stake. What do you think?
