The Energy Trap

How are we trapped by high gas prices?, a product of the New America Foundation, takes a look. The principal researcher is Lisa Margonelli, who wrote an enlightening book a few years ago “Oil on the Brain: Petroleum’s Long, Strange Trip to your Tank.”

The average family of four spends more money on their cars, maintenance and fuel than they do on taxes or medical care. When gas prices go up, they usually can’t just move or quit their job or buy a Prius – they just have to find a way to pay.
