Good news for pedestrians & bicyclists

Last week a U.S. senator from Oklahoma pushed to eliminate dedicated funding for the Transportation Enhancements program in the 6 month extension of the federal transportation bill. These enhancements include funding for walking, trails and bicycling.

After receiving more than 50,000 emails and thousands of phone calls, the senator withdrew his amendment and the Senate voted 92 to 6 to pass the extension bill including the funding for pedestrians and bicyclists.

This battle will need to be fought again next year but we now have a 6 month reprieve.
