Bike riders in Syracuse

Syracuse has 9.5 miles of bike lanes and is looking to add more. Yesterday city planners unveiled their proposed Bike Infrastructure Master Plan. It provides an analysis of the city’s streets and what areas would work best for bicycle paths. (view map at link below.)

Their first public meeting was yesterday and another will be held August 3.

Already under construction is a two lane bike lane on University Avenue separated from cars by a grass median that will extend from Waverly Avenue to East Genesee Street. This is all part of the Connective Corridor project.

I think more people would bike if it was safer and this is a step in the right direction.
