Money for rail for Upstate

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced last week that Upstate New York will be receiving $3.3 million in federal funds for a second mainline track near Ballston Spa. Currently Amtrak trains have to wait 30 minutes for the tracks to clear due to congestion near the Saratoga station.

“The project will relieve congestion, leading to greater reliability and faster travel times, and is necessary to achieve the faster speeds for future high-speed rail development.”
